About The Artist

My name is Yuri; I am a photographer and artist behind PY-PHOTO based in Melbourne. I am here to artistically document you, your team or your organisation.

WHO ARE YOU?

First and foremost in my life, I'm a happy husband and father of two lovely kids plus a cat, who, when not behind the camera, keeps busy by enjoying gardening, taking care of my orchids, drawing, baking, playing the guitar, swimming, travelling with my family and even renovating my house!

As a photographer, I possess over a decade of experience in family, event, corporate and wedding photography, including all stages from creation to post-event editing, processing and retouching.

I love it because I know how to make my clients enjoy the photographic experience, and then they are so grateful when they see the final photos. It makes me feel like I’m doing something significant in my life.

As Pablo Picasso said, "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."

WHAT LIFE EXPERIENCE MADE YOU BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER?

I am an artist who enjoys drawing. I started with a pencil and then moved to a black-inked ballpoint pen (see examples of my drawings below); however, it took me weeks to create one detailed piece of art, so I looked for other ways to express myself and decided to try photography. At the beginning of the 2000s, when the first affordable digital cameras started to emerge, I purchased my first point-and-shoot camera. After learning and playing with it for several years, I realised that I needed something more advanced, and then I bought my first DSLR camera in 2005. Since then, I have continued to learn photography and digital image processing and upgrade my gear.

I began with nature photography and transitioned to capturing families and events over the years.

I have always believed that continuous learning would significantly enhance my artistic and photographic skills. I continually strive to expand my existing knowledge and experience. In addition, I also think it is essential to stay familiar with all the technological changes and new post-processing techniques to create better photography and increase efficiency.

WHAT MAKES YOUR SERVICE UNIQUE?

Besides amazing photographs, the extraordinary photographic experience is the most crucial part of professional photography, as it connects us to the photos and makes them more valuable.

  • I offer a great client experience before and after the session with simple packages, an easy booking process and fast delivery.
  • I speak three languages: English, Hebrew and Russian.
  • I possess over a decade of photography experience in different areas, and continue to learn.

DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE

My approach is to direct and guide people during the headshots and branding photoshoot so they feel confident in front of the camera.

At the events, however, I usually take a non-obtrusive photojournalistic approach, but if needed, can also design and stage the group portraits.

I provide a mix of classic portraits, where everyone looks directly into the camera, and photos featuring many wonderful candid and genuine moments. Additionally, my goal during the session is to ensure that everyone feels as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?

I use the latest mirrorless full-frame cameras from Canon. My main body is the EOS R5 and a backup EOS R. In addition, I use a mixture of professional Canon and Sigma lenses, as well as Profoto lighting equipment. I choose my gear for the session based on the scene requirements and lighting conditions.

I rely on my knowledge and gear, and can guarantee that you will get amazing photos whenever you are photographed, regardless of the location you choose.
