My name is Yuri; I am a photographer, artist and owner of the PY-PHOTO based in Melbourne. I am here to artistically document you, your family, your team or your organisation.
First and foremost in my life, I'm a happy husband and father of two lovely kids plus a cat, who, when not behind the camera, keeps busy by enjoying gardening, taking care of my orchids, drawing, baking, playing the guitar, swimming, travelling with my family and even renovating my house!
As a photographer, I possess over a decade of experience in family, event and wedding photography, including all stages of creation to post-event editing, processing and retouching.
I love it because I know how to make my clients enjoy the photographic experience, and then they are so grateful when they see the final photos. It makes me feel like I’m doing something significant in my life.
As Pablo Picasso said, "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."
I am an artist, and I love to draw. I started with a pencil and then moved to the black inked ballpoint pen; however, it took me weeks to create one piece of art, so I looked for other ways to express myself and decided to try photography. At the beginning of the 2000s, when the first affordable digital cameras started to emerge, I purchased my first point and shoot camera. After learning and playing with it for several years, I realised that I needed something more advanced, and then I purchased my first DSLR camera in 2005. Since then, I have continued to learn photography and digital image processing and upgrade my gear.
I always believed that continuous learning would significantly improve my artist and photographer skills. I always strive to add more aspects to my existing knowledge and experience. In addition, I also believe it is crucial to be familiar with all the technology changes and new post-processing techniques to use when documenting those precious moments.
I believe that the great photographic experience is the most crucial part in family, event and wedding photography since it connects us to the photos and then makes them more valuable with the years.
A great experience starts with simple "All included" packages to avoid confusion and a clear understanding of my clients' wants. Most of the time, people can't tell it straight away; therefore, I usually do a short visualisation exercise that helps them understand their values and helps me to understand what is important for them to see in the photos. It also includes professional consultation before the wedding or an event to help plan the schedule.
I convey the photo session as a guest at their family experience or event and do some corrections to ensure that everyone looks great on the photos but can also do professional posing when needed, at formal events and weddings, for example.
The great experience ends with receiving the professionally edited photos shortly after the photo session. I process all my images by myself and commit to delivering them in the private web gallery within seven business days (usually takes 1-3 days, depending on the amount of work required).
The photographs you see here on my website are typical of what I do and, you should expect to get the same quality photos from your photographic experience.
My approach is to document the uniqueness of the relationship and connection in a natural and unforced way. The family sessions usually involve a lot of playing and hugging. At the ceremonies, however, I usually take a not obtrusive photojournalistic approach but, if needed, can also design and stage the perfect moment for a photo at the end of the ceremony.
I provide a mixture of classic portraits where everyone is looking into the camera and lifestyle
photos with many wonderful candid and genuine moments. In addition, my goal during the session is to ensure that everyone feels as comfortable and relaxed as humanly possible!
Each photography type is different and sometimes requires a different approach, but I love them all!
Family photography sessions are usually short (1-1.5 hour) and more dynamic. Both parents and kids are excited, and we have lots of fun during the photographic experience. I love it because it feels like I have met new friends at the end of the session every time!
Formal events usually require some professional posing. During the shoot, it evokes lots of emotion when I show people how to pose :) So we end up with professional portraits and portraits that show fun and character.
I usually take a photojournalistic approach at ceremonies with almost no interaction with the photographed people. To tell the story but not to be seen.
However, the most challenging and my favourite is wedding photography, where you must be good at everything, and it is a lot of responsibility!
To name a few: working with natural and artificial light, environmental portraits, being able to do professional posing if required plus evoke emotions (so the photos are not dull), family photography (working with parents and kids), maternity photography (in case one of the family members is expecting), babies photography, as well as keeping an eye on bride and groom during the day to ensure that they are well.
My packages are straightforward, and all included!
You will get all of your images in your private gallery shortly after your session, professionally edited and in high resolution that you can download and share. You also have an option to order professional prints.
I use the latest mirrorless full-frame cameras from Canon. My main body is EOS R5 and a backup EOS R.
Probably the prime 35mm f1.4 as an all-purpose lens.
I shoot with professional zoom and prime lenses from Canon and Sigma and choose them based on the scene requirements and lighting conditions for each session.
Based on my knowledge and gear, I can guarantee that you will get amazing photos whenever you are photographed and in whichever location you choose!
